Kingdom Hearts III development finished; musicians continue work, however

A group of developers stated on Twitter (the post has been since removed) that development for Kingdom Hearts III was finished. However, the musicians brought aboard to make the new theme are having some issues. Meanwhile, other sections of the crew are having problems putting the finishing touches on the game.

Utada Hikaru, the songwriter and vocalist for "Sanctuary," the theme for the second installment in the series, was brought back on to write the main theme for the third game.

"While I reached into my past to find inspiration for the lyrics for the themes for the last game, I'm trying to reach into my future for inspiration now," Utada stated. "It's kind of hard looking into the future for such inspiration, so I started looking at horoscopes. I had no luck there, so now I'm going to start looking into time travel."

Tetsuya Nomura, the director of the series, is also having a tad bit of trouble putting the final touches on the game.

"I had so much fun coming up with the ridiculous subtitles for previous games," Nomura said. "So instead of just calling the next game 'III,' I decided to try and make a subtitle that completely confuses newcomers and brings fans to tears trying to figure it out."

Nomura later stated, "that Utada girl has been working on a new song ever since she finished the second game's theme. At this rate, we are looking forward to a 2018 release."

Utada has not spoken about Nomura's previous comment after attempts to contact her.
